Subj: Prompt Notification In The Event of An Emergency
Dear Mr. Denton:
The Referenced letter requested additional information concerning the prompt notification system. This letter is to confirm that a prompt notification system will be installed at the Wolf Creek Generating S tation. The system will fully meet all the requirements of NUREG-0654, Appendix 3.
Kansas Gas and Electric Company has developed the following schedule for design, installation and checkout of the system prior to fuel load.

-)OILNRC 82-158 -February 5, 1982 The speci.fication to obtain consultants for the preparation of the.
initial design of the Prompt Notification System has been issued. We cannot, however, at this time give.any specific details on the system, other than it will probably consist of a hybrid system of sirens and tone alert radios with the possibility of. additional mobile, siren units.
At this time the only foreseeable problems in the ' implementation of dlis system will be the legal requirements for siting the sirens and the possible problems of powering the units in remote locations.
Kansas Gas and Electric Company is confident that the scheduled dates i
for this system will be met and that the end result will be a ' reliable and efficient system which fully complies with NUREG-0654. This information is hereby i'ncorporate'd into the Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit No.1, Operating License Application.
