Commints and Recomm:ndations on ths North Carolina Radiation Control Program I.
Licensing Licensing Procedures is a Category II Indicator. The following minor deficiency was noted.
A.
Comment A review of selected license files indicates that in at least J
two cases medical applications lacked adequate procedures and equipment to perform quality checks on dose calibrators.
It was noted also that a similar comment was made in our letter to you following our 1980 program review.
Recommendation We recommend that each medical applicant submit step-by-step procedures for use and performance testing of dose calibrators.
l i
Each applicant should also be required to have a set of check / calibration sources of appropriate strengths and energies.
II. Compliance Independent Measurements is a Category II Indicator. The following minor deficiency was noted.
A.
Comment A review of selected inspection reports indicates that in at least five cases there was a lack of adequate documentation of f
independent measurements.
Recommendation We recommend that independent measurements (i.e., wipe samples) be performed, analyzed and documented for each compliance inspection, when applicable. We feel that these confirmatory measurements should be an integral part of ti': inspection report.
