It i's imperative that the 30ard heab5 h'e g eps of ordinary people like me, on a subject that loons so significantly over their lives.
Stated simply: I consider the cen;inued operation of the Indian Point facility to be a throa ; to my life and health and that of ny children and grandchild, nnd all of the pecple who live within a c0 mile radius of Indian Point.
Indian Point flirts with disaster in its proximity c the Ranapo Fault, but acded to th;; is tn3 worry of numerous
" unscheduled events", equipnent that is aging and subject to breakdowns, and energency planning which is totally unreal-istic in tems of the population it purports to protect.
The potential for the major rolesse of raciation cannot be i nored. It is particularly hard for ne to understand why this sination shou' d be tolerated when even Con Ed adnits it could still operate at 25;i above peak capaci;y if Indian Point were shu; down.
Surely, there can be no justification for t2e continued operation fcr the Indian Point plan.
