(1) UE&C Letter, File 9.1.1.2, to NRC 10CFR21 Potential Defect (2) Telecon ME Rodin, Supply System to P. Narbut, Region V, Nuclear Regulatory Commission dated December 28, 1981.
In reference (1) the NRC was notified by United Engineers and Constructors (UE&C) of a potential design related deficiency associated with the design of the structural steel framing for platforms within the WNP 1/4 containment buildings.
In reference (2) the Supply System notified your office of the same condition only as a potentially reportable condition under 10CFR50.55(e). Since the original notification date UE8C has determined that the identified condition is reportable inaccor-dance with 10CFR21; therefore, this report is intended to serve as our formal notification of the same reportability only as a 10CFR50.55(e).
Because the subject deficiency was reported originally as a 10CFR21 Report by UE&C, and all of the attributes of a 10CFR50.55(e) report are covered within the UE&C report and since dual reporting is not required, the Supply System is submitting this as a final report on the subject deficiency. However, Supply System Engineering (site) will continue to track the progress of the Part 21 through UE&C, and assure that what ever changes, if any, as a result of UE&Cs re-analysis, are incorporated into the appropriate design drawings and implemented in the field through our control process.
