Dear Mr. Keppler:
In reference (a), Commonwealth Edison responded to an item of noncompliance regarding the calibration of torque wrench multi-pliers at Zion Station.
Included in the response was an assessment of. the effect of using an uncalibrated torque wrench multiplier on work performed under I.E.Bulletin 79-02.
This is to inform you that that assessment contained an error.
The assessment stated that of the expansion anchored base plates 'that could have been affected by use of an uncalibrated torque wrench multiplier, one base plate had a factor of safety of 4.0, and the the lowest f actor of safety for the remainder of that group was 4.4.
The' lowest factor of safety for the remainder of the group should have been stated as 4.3.
This change does not change our conclusion that there are more than adequate conservatisms in the design and behavior of concrete expansion anchors to account for any misapplied torque values on a minimum number of expansion anchored base plates.
