APPLICANT:
Departcent of Energy FACILITY: ' Clinch River Breeder Reactor
SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF J M UARY 15, 1982 CRBR REVIEW MEETING A meeting was held on January 15,1982 dn' Bethesda, Md. to discuss sodium-concrete reactions. The applicant described'the results of all sodium-concrete interaction test data to date. Twenty-two sodium-concrete tests were reviewed.
The test results varied greatly. Specifically, the total concrete penetration
~-
ranged from zero to seven and one-half inches. The penetration rates also varied from zero to ten inches per hour.
However, the high penetrazion rates were short-lived.
The applicar,t then discussed the sensitiv'ity of high concrete' penetration rates on the cantainment integrity and radiological doses. The results, although still preliminary,'show that containment integrity 4 maintained and that offsite doses are within 10 CFR siOO limits.
~
The applicant then"dsscribad tneir plans to conduct additional sodium-concrete interaction tests in"an., effort to cbtain more test data and to better understand sodium-concrete phenomenology.
The meeting attendee listing-is attached to this summary.
