N TO F01A-81-410 AND I g h Mr. Christopher Simpson IN RESPONSE REFEk'g, 3402 Newton Street #6 Mt. Rainer, MD 20712 F0IA-81-411

Dear Mr. Simpson:

This is in further response to your letters of October 7,1981 in which you requested pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, information pertaining to eight enumerated companies which manufacture semiconductors, integrated circuits and microcomputer chips (F01A-81-410) and any reports, studies, etc., pertaining to the environmental or workplace impact of the manufacture of integrated circuits (F0IA-81-411).

After further search, it has been determined that there are no further documents subject to your request.

Moreover, the license of Fairchild Camera & Instrument Corporation will be terminated in the very near future at the company's request.

The manufacturers of semiconductors, integrated circuits, and microcomputer chips may be licensed by the states; and we, therefore, recommend that you contact the states involved for licensing requirements.

The listing on Appendix A indicates the names and addresses for California and Texas.

With regard to F01A-81-411, we have been advised that the NRC has not prepared any reports, studies, etc., pertaining to the environmental or workplace impact of the manufacture of integrated circuits.

This completes NRC action on your request.

Sin er y,

. M. Felton, Director Division of Rules and Records Office of Administration
