Dear Sir:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)

Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Type "C" Testing for Valves NS-VII, IC-V16 & IC-V18 In response to your letter of November 4,1981, we concur with the staff's determination that valves NS-VII, IC-V16 and IC-V18 should be included in our " Type C" testing program. We will be submitting a Technical Specifi-cation change request to incorporate these valves in the testing program by March 15, 1982. This delay in the Technical Specification Change Request is considered justified in that two of these valves were recently tested and performed well. The third valve was tested and needed repairs which are now in progress.

In addition, our newly installed hydrogen recombiner valves will be appropriately included in the above change request.

Sincerely, t

(-
