NUREG-0737 - SLEMITTAL OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 4
Gentlemen:
In our letter of November 4, 1981, Georgia Power Company (GPC) requested an extension of the implementation schedule for NUREG-0737 Items II.F.1.1 and II.F.1.2.
These items required provisions for high range noble gas effluent monitoring and radiolodine effluent sampling at accident conditions, respectively.
Confirming discussions with Mr.
M.
Fairtile on January 7,
1982, we hereby submit additional information regarding the implementation schedules for these items.
We stated in the above-referenced letter that complete implementation of Items II.F.1.1 and II.F.1.2 involves the installation of a probe in the main stack of the plant and that this installation could be safely accomplished only if both Units 1 and 2 were at cold shutdown.
It has since been determined, however, that this installation can be performed by another method which does not require simultaneous shutdown of both units.
We will therefore possibly be able to implement these modifications by an earlier date than that indicated in the Novemoer 4 letter.
We expect that Items II.F.1.1 and II.F.1.2 are expected to be implemented for Unit 2, with the exception of recording capability, during the refueling outage currently scheduled for February, 1982.
Recorders are presently on order with an earliest delivery date of June,1982.
An outage is not required for their installation.
Items II.F.1.1 and II.F.1.2 are expected to be fully implemented for Unit I during the refueling outage tentatively scheduled for September, 1982.
If you have any questions, please contact my office.
Very truly yours, kdYb l}'? d' ?($ [ g S
