Dear Sir:
ui Duririg 1981 the WPI Open Pool Reactor Facility continued to support the
,WPI undergraduate elective program in nuclear engineering. Approximately forty (40) different students were involved ir one or more courses which
- utilized the reactor as a training aid.
lThe annual summer maintenance program was carried out uneventfully and
- all' systems proved to be-in very good condition. We are in progress of upgrading some console equipment on a routine basis.

Mr. Thomas White received his senior operator's license and continues to 4
serve as our Nuclear Specialist. in addition to carrying out the duties of Campus Radiological Safety Officer. Mr. White attended a concentrated training program in Health Physics at Lowell University and is now active in civil defense programs in the Worcester area.
We had no transfers of licensed radioactive material to or from the facility during ~1981 and no radiation exposures to personnel or radiation releases in excess of normal conditions which are essential background.
Processing of our license renewal application is continuing and minor revisions have been made in the applications.
