This constitutes a supplementary final report to our letter, QA-1298, dated May 22, 1980.

With reference to the August 3, 1981 memorandum from Mr. F. T. Daniels of the NRC, to Mr. H. R. Sager of CG&E concerning a 10CFR50.55(e) status report, there appeared to be a discrepancy in the interpretation of the reportability of the subject potential deficiency. Because of this apparent misunderstanding, CG6E would like to clarify its position.

Originally, it was stated that because the control rod drive water pumps were non-essential, the deficiency in meeting design flow rates was not con-sidered reportable under 10CFR50.55(e). To clarify, failure of the pumps would not adversely affect the safety of operations of the plant at anytime through its lifetime, nor would it inhibit the capability of bringing the plant to a cold shutdown condition.

Therefore, we wish to reaffirm our conclusion that this item does not meet the requirements for reportability under 10CFR50.55(e) and that this condition is considered to be resolved.
