Background
License Amendment No. 8, dated April 23,1979, ~ incorporated the Emergency i
Plan into the license.
Part of the plan required an annual review and update of the plan and procedures.
In response to an NRC order, GE submitted a Radiological Contingency Plan on August 27, 1981 for NRC review and approval. The contingency plan, which would replace the Emergency Plan, is scheduled for NRC review and approval by March 31, 1982. GE requests authorization to defer revision of the Dnergency Plan, pending approval of the Conti.'gency Plan.
II. Discussion GE has reviewed the Emergency Plan and has detennined that minor changes would be needed. These changes relate to organizational shifts and imple-menting procedures.
l Additional information on the Contingency Plan it due from GE by mid-January.
Review ar.:i approval is scheduled for the end of March. Accordingly, revision of the Emergency Plan can be reasonably postponed until the end of April 1982, at which time the Contingency Plan should be in effect and have superseded the Emergency Plan. To accommodate this deferral, the following condition is appropriate:
l The 1981 revisions of the limergency Plan shall be implemented by April 30, 1982, unless the Radiological Contingency Plan has been approved by the NRC and has superseded the Emergency Plan.
