Dear Mr. Wessman:
The above referenced letter stated that Dairyland Power Cooperative is investigating the feasibility of attaching special information taga to containment isolation valves and would submit a report to the NRC on this matter.
This submittal contains the results of the investigation.
It has been decided to attach special yellow valve tags to isolation valves on Containment Building condition sensing lines, which lead to switches or transmitters, and thus provide information to the Control Room or send actuating signals to equipment used to mitigate the consequences of a postulated accident.
The tags will be attached to those isolation valves which are required to be open during operation and post-accident to perform their function.
The hanging of special yellow valve tags on these valves should prevent reoccurrence of an event similar to that cited in the notice of violation, in which an isolation valve on a Containment Building pressure sensing line was briefly closed during plant operation.
