BACKLOG OF OPERATING REACTOR LICENSING ACTIONS In preparation for briefing the Commission on February 3,1982, regarding CRGR activities, regionalization and backlog reduction, I would appreciate a status report from NRR on the latter subject. Please include answers to the following auestions:
1.
What has been NRR's progress in reducing the backlog items in ORLAS in the first quarter of FY-827 2.
What action constitutes closure of a backlog action item in ORLAS?
3.
What fraction of ORLAS items are NRC staff actions and what fraction are licensee actions?
4 How does NRR control what items get added to the backlog?
5.
Who decides when an iten is removed from the backlog?
I would appreciate your reply to these questions by January 28, 1992.
