On December 30, 1981 (Serial No. 1-235), Toledo Edison identified

deficiencies in the Prompt Notification System (PNS) surrounding the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1.
Plans to upgrade the PNS were provided and indicated as underway.
The attachment to this letter provides a update of Toledo Edison upgrade efforts. The attachment identifies the status of each siren. The siren numbers are consistent with those identified on the emergency planning zone map enclosed with the December 30, 1981 submittal. The next update is currently scheduled for January 15, 1982.

SURRO'JFDING Tale DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION Activity Since Peport of December 30, 1981 Since December 30, 1981, Procurement has proceeded for all additional equipment required to upgrade the PNS. Toledc Edison has taken delivery of all poles and siren parts, with the exception of radio decoders and some electrical peripherals required for the siren additions.
Discussions are proceeding with the nine local governmental organizations to receive right-of-way approval for siren pole locations.
Siren assembly and site installation on approved right-of-way locations is expected to commence upon final parts delivery. Table 1 attached provides the status as of January 8,1982 and will be revised in future reports to identify further progress.
