Dear Mr. Keppler:
On December 7,1981, Detroit Edison's Mr. H.A. Walker, Supervisor - Construc-tion Quality Assurance, telephoned Mr. J.E. Konklin of NRC-Region III, to report on a problem with a deficiency in a cmputer program utilized by Edi-son Engineerin'j for the Fenrd 2 Project.
Detrcit Edison had been notified by Control Data Corporation (CDC) of errors 4
in a cmputer program which had been supplied to Edison Engineering for use in pipe support analysis. The cmputer program was known as BASEPIATE, and was available as a standartl product on Control Data's CYBERNE'I' network fran June 29, 1981, through November 3,1981.
'Ihe pipe attaciment locating dironsions XREF and YREF define the pipe center-line coordinates on the surface of the baseplates regartlless of whether or not the pipe is rotated. Version 1.0 inadvertently includes an off set in the locating dimensions when the pipe is rotated; i.e. XANGLE 0 or YANGLE 0.
'Iherufore, the rotated pipe equivalent square attachment coordinates are incorrectly located.
In BASEPIATE Version 2.0, the pipe attachment locating dinensions always define the pfpo centerline coordinates.
