should f acilitate immediate personnel response. The following B
signals are used:
a) Critical Radiation Alarm: This is an alarm automatically actuated by radiation f rom a nuclear excursion. The alarm device is a motor-driven howler which gives off a sound that is generally described as "ah-oo-gab."
l b) Fire Alarm -
This alarm is a single-stroke gong (two g
strokes per second) which can be automatically or manually actuated in the event of a fire or suspected fire within a building.
I=
(
c) Civil Defense: Civil Defense signals t. sed at the Hanford complex are produced by sirens. The City of Richland does not have an active Civil Defense program, but has sirens 3
installed for that purpose.
Exxon fluclear may, at some future date, install sirens for Civil Defense purposes.
Should sirens be installed, they will also be used for building evacuation.
The public address system will, g
until further notice, be used for Civil Defense and W
building evacuation.
