If the outage of any meteorologiqa1 instrument (s) required by Regulatory <

Cuide 1.23 (February 1972) exceeds seven consecutive days, the. total outage time, the dates of cutage, the cause of the outage, and the,instru-ment (s) involved shall be reported within 30 days.of the initis. tion of the outage to the USNRC, Office of Inspection rad Inforcement, with a copy to the Offlee of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Divi: ion of Operating Reactors. Elements of this prograra may be modified or' terminated.in accordance with Subsection 5.6.3(c).

The collection of meteorological data at the pIant site provides _information for use in developing atrespheric diffusica parar.cter for estimating potential rc.dyation doses to the public resulting from actual routide or abnorcal re icAses of radioactive materials uto the 5tmosphere, and for m'

assessing tb6 Actual impact of the plant cooling system on the atmospheric enviror. ment of the site area. A meteorological date collection prograd f.

as described above is necessary to meet the requirements of subparagraph 50.36a(a)(c) of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix D to 10 CFR Part 50, and Appendix E to 10 CTR Part 50.
