Serial 12050; dated July 17, 1981 This letter, as were the referenced letters, is an interim 50.55(e) report regarding safe shutdo.m boration capability assuming a most restrictive core cond$ tion and the control rod of highest worth stuck out of the core.

Incta11ation of the equipment and piping required for this inodification is in progress and will be completed in the spring of 1982.

Consumers, Bechtel and B&W have completed an investigation of the procedures required for operability.

It has been determined that additional modifi-cations are not required to ensure operability, however manual actions are required, outside of the control room, to align valves.

Use of the power operated relief valve is expected during Emergency Boration System (EBS) injection, to control RCS pressure.

Revisions to the FSAR covering the details of 'tke EBS are now complete.

Another report, either interim or final, will be transmitted on or before June 30,1982.
