Dear Mr. Wetterhann:
In a telephone conversation with you on November 13, 1981, you requested, on behalf of Gulf States Utility Company, an estimate of professional staff hours and contractual costs expended to date for the Blue Hills 1 & 2 construction pemit (CP) application. You indicated that you planned to use the information in deciding wnen to withdraw the CP spplication.
From June 1974, the date the CP application was filed, through October 3,1981, the Office of l1uclear Reactor Regulation (HRR) has expended a total of 12,057 professional nours for tne Blue Hills 1 & 2 review. The NRR associated contractual cost for the application is $182,364. Based on the current fee schedule (3/78) in effect, the NRR costs now approximate $653,000. These costs do not include the time spent by the Office of Inspection and Enforce-ment, Advisory Conraittee on Reactor Safeguards, the Atomic Safety & Licensing Board Panel or Appeal Panel which we estimate at $50,000.
