1 On January 19, 1982, a hearing in the above proceeding is scheduled to commence. Testimony is scheduled to be filed on January 11, 1982 with the exception of the testimony of the Joint Intervenors' and Governor Brown's expert witnesses which must be served on January 9,1982 pursuant to the Licensing Board's December 23, 1981 Memorandum and Order. Due to the short period of time between the filing of testimony and the commencement of the hearing, the Staff requests the Board to order all parties to serve their testimony by either Express Mail or the equivalent.
Such a procedure is specifically authorized by 10 C.F.R. 9 2.712 as recently amended. 46 Fed.
Reg. 58281 (December 1, 1981).
The use of express mail in the present pro-ceeding will allow at least a few days in which the need for rebuttal testimony may be evaluated before both attorneys and witnesses must depart for the hearing.
