RE00EST FOR PRIORITY REVIEW 0F GRAND GULF SP.V TEST PROGRA!!
On November 13, 1981, representatives of I'P&L (Grand Gulf) net with staff me@ers of CSB, SEB, GIB and PL to discuss the Kuosheng (Taiwan) SRV test results and their appl;cability to Grand Gulf. On the basis of the Kuosheng test data, IP&L believes that the design basis for the Grand Gulf containnent has been confirmed and therefore, proposes to elininate the SRV tests planned /
at Grand Gulf. The staff rinst review their proposal and approve the termination of the test program.
The staff evaluation must be completed by Decenber 7,1981 to assure no impact on the applicants fuel load schedule (see attachnent). This is due to a scheduled-last filling of the suppression pool starting on December 7.
If we require the i
SRV program, the instronentation for the tests will have to be installed prior to pnol filling.
l At this tine, I request that staff reviewers in CSB, SEB,11EB and GIB be assigned l,
on a high priority basis to this review.
If our evaluation is not conplete by l
December 2, the applicants fuel load date will slip awaiting our decision. The licensing effort for this review will be coordinated by Dean Houston (X28430),
Project Manager for Crand Gulf. Pleasa advise ne if you anticipate any problems with this request.
