Mr. George Stukenbroeker, formerly Manager, NL Nuclear Transportation a
$1 j $8 currently associated with our subsidiary, NLO, Inc., has asked that I write ~
you concerning the referenced docket. As Mr. Stukenbroeker discussed with you, NL Industries, Inc. hereby withdraws its application, dated December 28, 1978, requesting approval of NL Industries' QA Plan Q-63 under 10 CFR 7?.-51.
NLI has not engaged in nuclear transportation activities since September 30, 1980. All NLI activities prior to that date were conducted under a QA Program Plan which was approved by the NRC.
If NLI should engage in further transpor-tation activities in the future, we would submit a new application in accordance with 10 CFR 71.51.
NLI is owner of all NLI 1/2 and NLI 10/24 casks constructed to date and the AECL-type cask; however, they have been leased to another organization.
The casks continue to be maintain (d in compliance to an NRC approved QA Plan thus providing operation and maintenance pursuant to NRC regulations.
