December 3,1931 ANSWER OF THE NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY AND THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON NUCLEAR POWER SAFETY, THEREOF, TO THE RESPONSE OF THE NRC STAFF TO REQUEST FOR PARTICIPATION AS INTERESTED STATES On October 4,1981, the New York State Assembly and the Special Committee on Nuclear Power Safety, thereof, filed a timely Petition to Intervene in the above entitled proceeding as a representative of the State, pursuant to 10 CFR Section 2.715(c). On November 24, 1981, the NRC Staff filed a response to the numerous petitions for

' intervention, and said that it " supports the instant request provided that the State

Assembly identifies its representative and provides the Board with some assurance that such person has been authorized to represent the State Assembly in this proceeding" (pp.

30-31).

Stanley Fink is the Speaker of the New York State Assembly, duly elected by the full membership of that body. Pursuant to the Rules of the Assembly of the State of New York. Section 1.c.(1), the Speaker duly appointed himself chairman and appointed the memoers of the Special Committee on Nuclear Power Safety to coordinate, investigate and otherwise carry out the affairs of the New York State Assembly in all matters relating to commercial nuclear power generation in New York Sete.
