Response te C ASE First Requent for inform 4 hon Question No. 18 (Additinnal Responsgl As outlined in Section 5. F of the CPSES/ Ell (OLS) previously furnished the cost for decommissioning Comanche Peak is currently cetimated to be $18.4 million (in 1981 dollars). This cont is not included in the current estimates for the construction s ort of the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station. The cost of decommissioning will be r'cenvered th rough the depreciation charges which, when approved, will c ommence when the unit is placed in service and as with any other facility dedicated to public service, will b-paid for by the ratepayers who receive the benefit from such facilities. The general plans for decommissioning Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station are as outlined in Sectinn 5,8.
Since decommig-sioning will not occur until after the year 2020, specific plc.ns a re not presently available. It is, however, expected that decommit sioning plans will follow the best available and accepted technology and methods at the time of decommissioning. The CPSES/ER(OLS) was prepared under *he directior of Texas Utilities Generating Company (TUCCO), acting as ag. nt for the owners of the olant.
