As required by the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant unit 1 operating license i
condition 2.C(24), we provided tentative schedules for compliance with Regulatory Guide 1.97 in my April 8,1981 letter to A. Schwencer and in i
my July 1, 1981 letter to.you. We are in the final stages of the development of the design criteria for the post accident monitoring (PAM) instrumentation. As stated in the program schedule portion of our July 1, 1981 submittal, the dates for completion of this were only tentative.
As a result of recent vendor and utility developments in the implementation l
j of Regulatory Guide 1 97, we are reassessing our design criteria and parameter list. Therefore, finalization of our design criteria and parameter list has been delayed. However, by February 1, 1982, we anticipi e being able to provide the final PAM instrumentation list, specific upgrading requirements, and the design criteria including ambiguity / single failure requirements.
While the final PAM parameter list and design criteria will be available by February 1, 1982, we would like to reemphasize that a significant potential for slippage still exists in the design and procurement phases, as was l
outlined in our July 1, 1981 submittal.
