SUMMARY
OF OCTOBER 20, 1981 MEETING REGARDING THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION REVIEW FOR CESSAR On October 20, 1981, the staff met with representatives from Combustion Engineering (CE) to discuss the staff's review of the environmental qual-ification for CESSAR and the referenced topical report CENPD-255. The meeting attendees are listed in Enclosure 1.
The staff stressed that, although a finding will be made relative to the acceptability of the CESSAR environmental qualification (EQ) methods and procedures, it is the utilities' responsibility to review and evaluate the results of the EQ testing. CE requested that the staff commit to complete its review of CESSAR and CENPD-255 Revision 2, for both " mild" and " harsh" environments, prior to the issuance of the SER supplement for Palo Verde.
Z. Rosztoczy committed that the staff would complete its review by Decem-ber 21, 1981, provided that CE is responsive to the s' M's requests for additional information and that no significant issues arise during the course of the review.
CE agreed to provide responses to requests for additional information by letter report and, subsequently, formally revise CENPD-255 following the completion of the staff's review. The balance of the meeting consisted of detailed discussions between the staff's consultants (EG&G) and CE regarding clarificatioci of CENPD-255 and the staff's requirements in NUREG-0588.
