Occurrence Date: January 22, 1975 3
Facility: Big Rock Point Plant Charlevoix, Michigan.
4.
Identification of Occurrence: Uncontrolled release of liquid to canal.
5 Conditions Prior to Occurrence: Plant in cold shutdown condition for maintenance activities.
6.
Description of Occurrence: An isolated section of the feed-water sys-tem in the turbine building was being drained to facilitate maintenance work. The plant repairmen carried several puls af this low-activity water to a floor drain which disenarges directly to the discharge canal.
About 50 sallons of water were released in this mannei.
7 DesiEnstion of Apparent Cause of Occurrence: Failure of administrative controls.'

Analysis of Occurrence: The activity released to the lake totalev 0.8316 nierocuries. The activity level measured as gross beta vr.s L.h x 10-6 nicrocurie per milliliter. The activity represents n.yery t

9 Corrective Action: The situation was discussed with the auparvisor in" l
