.wxas moumms-en May 1, 1981 ST-HL-AE-658 SFN: C-0510 Mr. Karl Seyfrit Director, Region IV Nuclear Regulatory Commission 611 Ryan Plaza Drive, Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76012 South Texas Project Units 182 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Status of Show Cause Commitments By letter dated September 18, 1980 (ST-HL-AE-533), HL&P transmitted a copy of a listing entitled "Show Cause Commitments". The listing was derived from the July 28, 1980 written response to NRC's Order to Show Cause and the transcript of the August 19, 1980 public meeting.
The listing had three categories.
The first category consisted of verbal commitments made at the August public meeting and were designated "H" items.
The second category consisted of management oriented commitments made in the July written response I
and were designated "M" items.
The third category consisted of audit oriented commitments also made in the July written response and were designated "A" items.
The attachment provides the status of these items as of April 28, 1981.
As l
shown in the attachment, significant progress has been made in implementing the actions required to close the commitments.
A conversation between our site QA personnel and Mr. Hubacek of your staff indicates that a clarification of commitment item number A136 is necessary.
The current commitment reads "Each morning, a computer printout will be provided to users of the design documents".
Since some of the personnel receive the printout in the afternoon this commitment is clarified to now read "Each working day, a computer printout will be provided to users of the design documents".
l The intent of the commitment was to enable each user to have up-to-date l
information.
Thus, the clarification still satisfies the intent of the commitment.

Should you have questions, please advise.
l Very truly yours,
