50-416/417 File 0260/15525/15526 PRD-80/74, Status Report #1, Damaged Wiring in Henry Pratt Valves AECM-81/54 On December 30, 1980, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. J. Rausch of your of fice of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) concerning damaged wiring in Henry Pratt valves.
Our investigation has not been completed. Attached is our status report.
We expect to complete our investigation, determine corrective actions, and submit a final response by July 30, 1981.

Description of the Deficiency Damaged vendor wiring was. discovered in an air operated "T" box on a butterfly valve in the Fuel Handling Area Ventilation System (System T42). Eight vendor wires were pulled out of the back of their respective lugs and six vendor wires were cut through. It was also identified that vendor leads had become separated from their lugs in vendor limit switch junction box mounted on another butterfly valve in the same system. No determination has been made concerning reportability of this item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) and 10CFR21.
II.
Approach to Resolution of the Problem QAR F-266 has been issued to determine the cause, the extent of the pro'olem, remedial actions, actions to preclude recurrence and effect upon the safety of plant operations.
III.
Status of Proposed Resolution The investigation underway through QAR F-266 has not progressed enough to allow for determination of cause, extent and corrective actions required. It is anticipated that a determination these items as well as reportability can be provided on April 30, 1981.
IV.
Reason Why a Final Delay Completion of investigation is pending-V.
Date When a Final Report Will Be Submitted A final report can be expected by July 30, 1981.
