January 13, 1981 Identification of Cecurrence:
1 During a Surveillance Test of the HPCI auxiliary oil pu=p. an oil leak of about 3 to 5 GPM vss discovered on the all supply line to the turbine msnu'si/
ovcrspeed trip :sechanism.
Conditions Prior to Occurrence:
Unit 3 operatin.s at 100% power.
Apparent Cause of Occurrence:
It is believed that the oil leak is due to a leaking valve or fi. ting in the oil supply line to the trip mechanism.
Ar.alysis of Occurrence:
no Surveillance Test did not require h'PCI turbine operatien, therefore here v1:
no possibiitty of darmar.e to the HPCI bearings.
If the NPOI turb!nc hni r.c on started with oil leaking frca the line, oil vould still have been supp;.le.1 to the ben. rings for about thirty zsinutes at reduced pressure.
At that peint a turbine bearing low pressure. aslar n vould have been received.
Remaining ECC systems were 1::unediately rerified to be operable.
