' We-are unable to determine the procedure by which a result of 0.522" for the hydraulic diameter could be achieved for the Dresden Type I fuel.

Although the Dresden fuel is within the range of application of the recent Levy-Janssen work, an additional comment may be in order.

Even if the hydraulic diameter were increased to as much as 0.600" (very unlikely) there would be negligible reduction in the burnout heat flu::.

This fact is based on a recent memorandum released by Dr. Levy and Dr. Janssen on the subject of the effect of hydraulic diameter on burnout heat flux, wnich reveals the burnout correlation being employed in these studies.

represents a hydraulic diameter of approximately 0.600" for the nass flows of interest in the Dresden reactor.
