=m ficoberr. of the HRC staff met with Commonwealth Edison personnel at the Dresden site on January 11, 1978, and at the Station Nuclear Engineering =m Division offices in Chicago on January 12, 1978. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the review of environmental nualification of safety-related electrical equipment and to observe such equipaent which was readily accessible. ' = = A list of attendees is enclosed. l.~" g: The staff rienbers discussed the purpose af the environmental o,ualification L revi erf, t5e purpose of the plant visits, and the anticipated content of the licensee's responses to the NRC letter of Decenber 23, 1977, regarding (_ environmental cualification. The objectives of this letter and those U[.; = discussed during the January 5,1978 neeting held in Bethesda were also reviewed. Differences between the current review and prior licensee and [~~_ staff revices of environnental qualification were pointed out. The staff n enphasized that the licensee responses should include a sutrary conparison between the environwntal qualification perforced and the guidelines of IEEE 323-1974 and Regulatory Guide 1.89. The staff stated that the ifcensee responses should not be restricted to a discussion of equipment l needed to cope with a less of coolant accident but should include other l Jesign basis events such as stean line breaks, high energy line breaks N outsice centainment and flooding from equipcent failure. It was also noted that tha response should contain a thorough discussion of the
