UNITED STATES NUCJEAR REGULATOR [ Com1SSION DOCKET NO. 50-10 C0ff1ONWEALTH E0! SON COMPANY H011CE OF GRANTING GF RELIEF FROM ASHE SECTION XI INSERVICE INSPECTION (TESTING) REOUIREMENTS The U. S. Hur. lear Regulatory Comission (the Cornission) has granted relief fror. certain require.nents of the ASME Code,Section XI, " Rules for Inservice Icspection of Nuclear Power Plant Components" to Comanwealth Edison Cogiany. The relief relates to the inservice inspection (testing) progran for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Unit No.1 (the facility) located in Grundy County, Illinois.
The ASME Code requirenents are incorporated by reference into the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Part 50. The relief is effective as of its date of issuance.
The relief is granted, on an interim basis, pending completion of our detailed review, from those inservice inspection and testina reouirements of the ASME Code that the licensee has determined to be impractical within the linitations of design, geometry, and materials of construction of conponents, because compliance would result in hardships and unusual difficulties without
- 7 a compensating increase in the level of quality or safety.

The Comunission has detemined that the granting of this relief will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant I
