i SHAKE The SHAKE computer progran performs a response spectrum analysis in order to calculate individual modal response and total responses by a root sum square combination of modal responses.
The input to SHAKE consists of the eigenvalues and natural mode shapes of a lumped mass model of a structure, the mass matrix (diagonal) and the coordinates of a response spectrum for one direction of ex~ citation.
SHAKE calculates the following quantities:
1.
Participation factors and modal mass 2.
Modal accelerations 3.
Modal inertial loads (mass x modal accelerations) 4.
Combined mass degree of freedom accelerations (RSS of modal accelerations). These are not used in any subsequent calculation but are output fcr inspection purposes.
5.
Combined inertial loads (RSS of modal loads)
The combination of modal inertial loads is. performed in the main program by DO LOOPS 462 and 461 and is inmediately output by I
writestatementifRITE(111,4681) and corresponding FORMAT statement 4681.
The SHAKE program also contains subroutines using iterative procedures for calculation of eigenvalues and natural mode shapes. This is optional and is normally not used because of prohibitive cost.
The input to SHAKE for this process would include the condensed stiffness matrix'.
The SHAKE program was developed by CE in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and is used on the CDC 6600 and CDC 7600 computers at' CE.
The basic code computations were verified by comparison to hand solutions of sanple problems.
Enclosure to: LD-78-028
i Pages 1 through 10 of the proprietary version of this enclosure contains a complete listing of Combustion Engineering's SHAKE computer code.
