Dear Mr. Chairman:

Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4,1983, amended Section _189 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the Nuclear Regulatory _ Commission to issue'and 1

make immediately effective any amendment to an - operating license ' upon a determination by the Commission that such amendment involves no significant hazards consideration, notwithstanding the pendency before the Commission of a request for a hearing.

In addition, the legislation requires the Commission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every 30 days) publish notice.of any amendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.

Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Commission's Biweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no significant hazards considerations, which was published in the Fede 21 Reaister on March 31, 1993.(58 FR 16851).
