SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-148/93-01
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. Wesley L. Holley of this office
on April 8-9, 1993.
The inspection included a review of your activities
authorized for your Nuclear Reactor Center.
At the conclusion of the
inspection, the findings were discussed with members of your staff identified
in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and the observation of
activities in progress.
The results of this inspection are documented in the
enclosed report.
The inspection effort involved the coordination of the confirmatory
radiological survey activities which were performed by our contractor, Oak
Ridge Institute for Science and Education (0 RISE) of your Nuclear Reactor
Center, on April 8-9, 1993. The survey results currently available meet the
required criteria for unrestricted use. Our contractor also obtained soil,
water, and material samples and performed loose contamination surveys by smear
and wipe techniques.
These samples and contamination wipes are being analyzed.
by the contractor and will be reported in the Confirmatory Survey Report.
If
any of these analyses are above the release criteria for unrestricted use, you
will be notified and further decontamination effort will be required before
the decommissioning of your site will be considered final.
In accordance with 10 CFR Part 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy
of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document
Room.
