Dear Mr. Chilk:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company (Southern Nuclear) has reviewed the proposed generic letter " Availability and Adequacy of Design Bases Information," published in the Federal Register on March 24, 1993.
In accordance with the request for comments, Southern Nuclear is in total agreement with the NUMARC comments which are to be provided to the NRC.
Southern Nuclear agrees with NUMARC that the generic letter is unnecessary and unwarranted.
Furthermore we believe that the request for information is inappropriate, has no direct connection to safety, and bypasses the formal regulatory process.
