TO REACTOR VESSEL WATER LEVEL INSTRUMENTATION IN BOILING WATER REACTORS" - GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION (TAC NO. M84281)
Generic Letter 92-04, " Resolution of the Issues Related To Reactor. Water Level Instrumentation in Boiling Water Reactors" requested that you " provide your plans.and schedule for corrective actions, including any proposed hardware modifications necessary to ensure the level instrument system design is of high functional reliability for long term operation."
l Your response dated September 25, 1992, endorsed the BWR Owners' Group (BWROG)-
plans originally provided in BWROG. letter to the NRC on August 12, 1992, and

reaffirmed your support of the BWROG plan by endorsing the BWROG_ letter of

-September 24, 1992. You further stated that "If the BWROG Program indicates j
that modifications are necessary to assure that the level instrumentation is j
of high functional ~ reliability, such modification schedule will be provided to the NRC at that time."
The above endorsements and commitments related to the BWR0G plans do not I
respond acceptably to the Generic Letter 92-04 Requested Action 3, which requested your plans and schedule for corrective actions.
l Accordingly, you are again requested to provide the NRC staff with your plans and schedule for corrective actions, including any proposed hardware modifications necessary to ensure the level instrument system design is of high functional reliability for long term operation.
i Please provide your. response by July 30, 1993. The information requested by I
this letter is within the scope of the overall burden estimate in Generic j
Letter 92-04, which was an average of 200 person-hours for each addressee's I
