MINUTES OF CRGR MEETING NUMBER 237 The Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) met on Monday, March 1,1993 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A list of attendees at the meeting is attached (Enclosure 1). The following items were discussed at the meeting:

The CRGR reviewed a proposed final amendment to 10CFR50 Part 72 to add the Ventilated Storage Cask (VSC-24) to the list of cask designs approved for use under general license for dry storage of spent fuel at nuclear power reactor sites.
(An earlier draft of this proposed amendment was reviewed by CRGR at Meeting No. 234.
The revised package provided for consider-ation at this meeting reflected the staff's responses to CRGR comments and recommendations from the earlier meeting, and a narrowing of scope of the proposed amendment to address only the VSC-24 cask design.)
The Committee endorsed issuance of the proposed amendment with the added provision that user licensees be required to provide positive means of assuring that the temperature of the inner concrete surface of the cask does not exceed the 350*F criterion established in the Certificate of Compliance, and subject to several additional comments, as discussed in.
In accordance with the ED0's July 18,1983 directive concerning " Feedback and Closure of CRGR Review", a written response is required from the cognizant office to report agreement or disagreement with the CRGR recommendations in these minutes. The response is to be forwarded to the CRGR Chairman and if there is disagreement with the CRGR recommendations, to the EDO for decision making.
