Docket No. 50-454 Docket No. 50-455 Commonwealth Edison Company ATIN: Mr. L. O. DelGeorge Vice President Nuclear Oversight and Regulatory Services Executive Towers West III 1400 Opus Place, Suite 300 Downers Grove, IL 60515 I
Dear Mr. DelGeorge:
SUBJECT:
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT LETTER REGARDING IDENTIFIED CONCERNS l
Thank you for your letter dated April 14, 1993, in response to our March 16, j
1993 letter identifying -a Fitness-for-Duty concern at your Byron Station.
In our letter, we requested that you determine if a contract supervisor was I
advised of personnel smelling of alcohol while on duty and what actions were j
taken if he was advised. We further requested that you determine if the requirements of your Fitness-for-Duty program were complied with.
i Your response indicated that on February 8,1993, the identified contract supervisor was advised of personnel who smelled of alcohol while on duty and that he took the appropriate actions to evaluate the personnel involved. He was unable to identify or confirm the presence of the odor of alcohol on any i
individual. On February 13, 1993, a for-cause test for the odor of alcohol on one individual was performed with negative results. You further determined that the appropriate follow-up actions were taken and that your Fitness-for-Duty program requirements were met.
We found your investigation to be sufficient to support your conclusions and we have no further questions regarding this matter. We request that you l
retain the supporting documentation of your investigation for a minimum of one year from the date of this letter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and your response without the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
