INTRODUCTION l
i The Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Engineering Department has performed an evaluation of the Zion setpoints for the non-West-inghouse reactor trip channels utilizing Gamma-Metrics Source and j
i Intermediate range channels.
This evaluation was performed in support of the licensing amendment for the implementation of the l
Gamma-Metrics nuclear instrumentation modification.
This document provides the allowances to be used in evaluatirn of the channel accuracy for the Gamma-Metrics Source and Intermedi-ate range reactor protection setpoints.

SETPOINT EVALUATION PROGRAM 1
The Zion Setpoint Evaluation program for non-Westinghouse reactor trip and ESF channels evaluated the design inputs provided in reference 1.
The program obtained Zion physical plant and conduct of operations data, where applicable, to determine the accuracies and errors associated with-the intermediate range and source range neutron flux channels.
Using channel accuracy 1
methodology consistent with the Protection System Channels, Eagle j
21 Version, Westinghouse Channels (reference 2), these accuracies and errors are used to evaluate overall channel accuracy to ensure the functional requirements of the source and intermediate neutron flux channels are maintained.

CONCLUSIONS l
The results of the Zion Setpoint' Evaluation Program ensure that the setpoints for the non-Westinghouse channels are consistent with the appropriate functional requirements.
This includes the functional requirements for the source and intermediate range neutron flux setpoints using the Gamma-Metrics channels.
The j
Zion Setpoint Validation Program conclusions are supported by i
4 Nuclear Engineering calculations which use Zion specific design inputs.
1 The Evaluation program identifies the Rack Calibration Accuracy (RCA) and Rack Comparator Setting Accuracy (RCSA) for each channel (tables 2-1 and 2-2).
The value of the " established tolerance",, as used in the Zion Technical Specifications, is equivalent to the Rack Comparator Setting Accuracy for the channels summarized in Tables 2-1 and 2-2.
