This refers to the inspection conducted by Dr. J. 8. Nicholas of this office

on March 29 through April 2, 1993. The inspection included a review'of.
activities authorized for your Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3.
At
the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with
Mr. D. F. Packer and those members of your staff identified in- the enclosed
j
report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified'in the report.- These
!
areas included your liquid and gaseous radioactive waste management,-
i
radioactive effluent monitoring, and air cleaning system programs.- The!
inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative
!
records, interviews with personnel,' and observation of activities -in progress.
!
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of

!
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
