and associated Bases.to allow the fuel pool transfer gates to travel over fuel assemblies in the. spent fuel i
pool for refueling activities, fuel handling. system maintenance, and transfer gate seal replacement.
The l
attachment to this letter contains additional information in support of this license amendment application.
As is shown in the attachment,-the spent fuel pool gate rigging and hoist have a minimum safety factor which exceeds the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA) recommended safety factor of 5.
The high safety factor in conjunction with the redundant-slings used during a lift ensure that the gates will l
not be dropped on the spent fuel pool racks.

RIGGING PARTS LIST RIGGING SEQUENCE 1.
Existing 5-Ton Yale Hoist With the gate in the insta;1ed position, connect the hoist 2.
2-each 5-Ton Safety Trolleys lifting slings and safety cables (6), one cable to each 3.
5-Ton Shackle @ Ea. Safety Trolley safety trolley. Lift the gate to clear supports (approx.11").

5-Ton Shackle Connect safety cables (8). Gate may now be moved to its 5.
Existing Lifting Slings storage position. Remove safety cables (8) and lower gate 6.
2-each 7/8", slings. 5-Ton capacity to rest on storage supports. Remove remainder of rigging.

10-Ton Shackle Repeat above sequence to place the gate in its installed
