Dear Mr. Daley:
This responds to your letter dated April 8,1993, in which you requested that the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VYNPS) remain shut down pending resolution of emergency diesel generator (EDG) concerns.
Additionally, in that letter you raised several specific questions regarding the operation of VYNPS and NRC oversight of the licensee.
The NRC read your letter and did not identify any new information that would provide a basis for us to restrict the operation of VYNPS. The NRC will provide a more detailed response to the concerns stated in your letter at a later date.
The NRC continues its independent review of technical issues at VYNPS, such as those related to the EDGs. NRC will take appropriate regulatory action, as warranted, to assure those issues are satisfactorily resolved.
