Dear Mr. De1 George:

1

This refers to the special electrical distribution system followup inspection

conducted by Messrs. Z. Falevits and R. Mendez of this office on March 29

through April 2, 1993. This followup inspection included a review of

activities authorized for your Zion Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2.

We

discussed our inspection findings with Mr. D. Wazniak and others of your staff

at the conclusion of the inspection on April 2, 1993.

The inspection reviewed issues identified during the 1992 EDSF1, and selected

j

design changes and modifications. Areas examined during the inspection are

identified in the report. The inspection consisted of a selective examination

of procedures and representative records, field walkdowns and interviews.

The

inspection concluded that progress was being made in resolving the EDSFI

issues. No significant findings were identified in the design change or

modification areas; however, the inspectors noted that loose terminations (hot

spots) identified during the performance of thermography were not promptly

corrected.

No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this

inspection.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of

this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC

Public Document Room.
