Special Report 93-002 - Steam Generator Tube Plugging Report Gentlemen:
This letter provides information regarding the nurber of tubes plugged in each steam generator as required by Wolf Creek Generating Station Technical Specifications (T/S).
Technical Specification 4.4.5.5 states:
..within 15 days f ol l owi ng the completion of each inservice inspection of steam generator tubes, the nunber of tubes plugged in each steam generator shall be reported to the Commission.."
The fitth steam generator (S/G) inservice inspection which began March 23, 1993, was completed for S/G "B"
on March 29, 1993.
This inservice inspection included removal of all Inconel 600 mechanical tube plugs and their replacement with Inconel 690 mechanical tube plugs.
This was done to three plugs during this inspection and completes the replacement of Inconel 600 mechanical tube plugs as required by NBC Bulletin No.
89-01,
" Failure of Westinghouse Steam Generator Tube Mechanical Plugs," for S/G "B".
Fi ve tubes were mechanically plugged because of indications found during the inservice inspection and four " bare holes" were plugged.
" Bare holes" are hcles in the S/G tubesheet which were capped internally by the manufacturer prior to delivery and installation but are not tested during regular inservice i nspe ct i ons.
These bare holes are plugged to preclude the possibility of leakage from hole locations which are not tested as part of the inservice inspection program.
The ccmplete results cf the steam generator inservice inspection shall be reported as required S 4.4.5.5 by March 28, 1994.
