MEMORANDUM TO:

Those on the Attached List FROM:

Scott C. Flanders, Deputy Director Office of the Chief Information Officer

SUBJECT:

ANNUAL REVIEWS OF PRIVACY IMPACT ASSESSMENTS AND PRIVACY THRESHOLD ANALYSES Its time for the annual review of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and privacy threshold analyses (PTAs). The NRC performs these reviews annually to meet the requirements under the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002. Under this requirement, system owners need to review all PIAs and PTAs annually to confirm that they are current and accurate.

Our second overall review took place last year in an effort to eliminate old assessments and to ensure all information is current. To comply with this years requirement, we request that each system manager review his or her PIAs and PTAs and respond as noted below by March 6, 2020:

1. If your PIA/PTA is current, but older than 2018, please resubmit it using the latest PIA/PTA template (see the links below for the latest templates).
2. If your PIA/PTA is current, send an e-mail to privacy.resource@nrc.gov stating that you have reviewed it and you are certifying that the PIA/PTA is current. Please include the following information in your e-mail response:
a. Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) accession number and the title of the PIA/PTA.
3. If your PIA/PTA is no longer current, send an e-mail to privacy.resource@nrc.gov stating when you plan to provide us with an updated PIA/PTA. We request that you update your PIA/PTA within 60 days from the date of this memorandum.
