OF MEETING WITH COMMONWEALTH EDIS0N COMPANY'S SIX NEW SITE VICE PRESIDENTS AND SENIOR NRC MANAGEMENT On February 4,1993, the'six new site vice presidents (VP), the vice president and chief nuclear operating officer (CN00), and the vice president for nuclear i

oversight and regulatory services for Commonwealth Edison Company (Ceco) met t

with senior NRC managers. A complete list of attendees is enclosed (Enclosure i

1). The purpose of the meeting was to. introduce the new site vice presidents-to NRC senior management.

There were no formal presentations made during the meeting. The meeting provided a forum for the senior managers of CECO and the-NRC to exchange their thoughts and views-on the continued safe operations of the 12 CECO nuclear power plants.

In addition, CECO managers stressed that cost reductions would be necessary, but indicated that cost reduction would not impact safety in any way. Cost reduction would be brought about by working smarter.

Finally, Ceco stressed the importance of their human resources and indicated they would continue to stress personnel development.

Michael Wallace. Vice President - Chief Nuclear Operatine Officer Mr. Wallace holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Chicago.-

Mr. Wallace served as a line officer in the U. S. Navy Nuclear Submarine Program.

t Mr. Wallacejoined Commonwealth Edison in 1974 as a Quality Assurance Engineer.

He has served in various capacities including the Braidwood Project Manager, the l

Manager of Projects and Construction Services, the Manager ofEngineering and Construenon and the Vice President of PWR Operations.

U Mr. Wallace presently functions as the ChiefNuclear Operating Officer (CNOO).

He is responsible for all activities related to the operation and support of the Company's six j

i nuclear generating stations. He functions as the single executive focal point for setting operating policies, objectives and priorities for these sites (Byron, Braidwood, Zion, Quad Cities, Dresde and LaSalle County Station).

Mr. DelGeorge holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology i

and a Juris Doctor Degree from the ChicaF# Kent College of Law.

He began his career at Westinghouse, where he worked for five years as a reactor component designer at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. He has spent the past 19 years with i

Commonwealth Edison holding various engineering, nuclear licensing and operating senices positions.

Sirval Bere. Jr.. Site Vice President - Braidwood Station Mr. Berg is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the Navy's nuclear propulsion program. Among a number of challenging assignments, he served as Staff Training Officer, S1W (Nautilus) nuclear prototype, Nuclear Reactor Facility, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and as Chief Engineer on board the USS Sunfish, a fast attack submarine.

In addition, he received a Masters of Divinity Degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. He served as a parish pastor, most recently as Senior Pastor ofGood Shepherd Church in Naperville, Blinois. He has completed post graduate work in systems and organizatio I

change" and taught graduate level co'urses and led seminars in leadership development".

Mr. Berg joined Commonwealth Edison in 1991. He completed General Electric Executive SRO training in August of 1992. He has served as an administrator in the Office of Vice President o PWR Operations, Assistant to the Production Supedntendent and as Technical Supedntendent at Dresden Nuclear Station.

Richard Pleniewier. Site Vice President - Ouad Cities Station Mr. Pleniewicz holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University ofIllinois. Prior to entering the University ofIllinois, he served as a noncommissioned ofBcer in the Nuclear Propulsion Program of the United States Navy. He joined Commonwealth Edison Company as a Technical Staff Engineer at Zion Station in 1973. Mr. Pleniewicz was involved pre-operational and startup testing for both Zion Units. He later obtained his Senior Reactor Operator License and served as an Operating Shift Foreman.

Mr. Pleniewicz transferred to Byron Station in 1977 as an Operating Engineer He subsequently served as Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Production Supedntendent and Station Manager. He bring twenty five years of Nuclear Navy and utility expedence to the newly established position.

Warren Murohv. Site Vice President - LaSalle County Station Mr. Murphy bolds a bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Eastern Michigan University.

Mr. Murphy started his nuclear career as a reactor operator at the Idaho Division of Argonne National Laboratory at the Nation Reactor Testing Station in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1962. In 1967 he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to work as a lead reactor operator at the University of Michigan's Ford Nuclear Reactor where he held an AEC Senior Reactor Operators License In early 1971 Mr. Murphyjoined Vermont Yankee as a pre-operational /startup test engineer a r

obtained his Senior Reactor Operators license in 1972. In 1975 he became head of the on-site engineering support group. He was promoted to Assistant Plant Manager in 1977 and to Pla Manager in 1980. In 1982 the Board of Directors of Vermont Yankee elected him to the posi:

Senior Vice President - Operations.

Eichard Tuetken. Site Vice President - Zion Station Mr. Tuetken holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Mr. Tuetken began his career with Commonwealth Edison in 1968 as a summer employee in the efficiency staff at Kincaid Station.

Following graduation, he was assigned to the Station Construction Depanment at Zion Station in 1970. In his career with Commonwealth Edison, he has been assigned to various projects in either the design, licensing, construction, startup, or modification of Kincaid, Powerton, Zion, Quad Cities, Byron and Braidwood generating stations. He has also held assignments as the Construction Manager of Boiling Water Reactors and as Projects Manager in i

the Engineering and Construction Depanment at the Nuclear Division.

In February 1992, he was assigned as General Manager for Zion Station. Mr. Tuetken brings over twenty years of nuclear and utility experience to the position of Site Vice President.

Kenneth Graesser. Site Vice President - Byron Station Mr. Graesser holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. In 1960 Mr. Graesser started work in the Engineering Depanraent for the Central Illinois Electric and Gas Company in Rockford, Illinois.

He began his career with Commonwealth Edison as a Master Mechanic in 1969 at the Qaad Cities Station. Mr. Graesser received his Senior Reactor Operators License in 1977 and was assigned responsibility as the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative and Technical Senices at Quad Cities. In 1980, Mr. Graesser was named the Station Manager for Zion Station and sen ed in this capacity for Sve years when he was named to the position of General Manager of PWR Operations. In December 1991 Mr. Graesser was assigned to the position of General Manager BWR Operations.

Mr. Graesser brings thirty-two years of utility experience to the Site Vice President position.

Michael Lvster. Site Vice President - Dresden Station Mr. Lyster holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Physical Science and Business Administration graduating in 1978 from Nathaniel Hawthome College in Antrim, New Hampshire. He served as a noncommissioned officer in the Nuclear Submarine Program of the United States Navy for eight years.

l In 1982 Mr. Lyster joined Cleveland Electric as the Superintendent of Plant Operations which l

included responsibilities for pre-operational testing at Perry. He subsequently held positions of Manager of Plant Operations, General Manager of Plant Operations and ultimately Vice President -Nuclear.

Gerald Diederich. Nuclear Operations Manmeer Mr. Diederich holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University.

He started work at Commonwealth Edison in 1961 as a Tech StaffEngineer at Will County r

Station. Mr. Diederich has held various assignments including Operating Engineer (SRO Licensed) at Dresden, Assistant Superintendent at LaSalle, Assistant Superintendent of Operations (SRO Licensed) at LaSalle and Station Manager at LaSalle.

Mr. Diederich currently fills the role ofNuclear Operations Manager. This position is a staff position reporting to the Chief Nuclear Operating Officer (CNOO) and serves to coordinate thel timely and effective implementation ofimportant CNOO decisions and initiatives.

Dennis Farrar. Nuclear Reculatory Services Manacer Mr. Farrar holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. He also received a Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering and a Masters Degree in Management, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Farrar served in the United States Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program until 1964.

Mr. Farrar has been with Commonweahh Edison since 1973. He has served as the Manager of Nuclear Senices, Director of Nuclear Licensing, held positions in Nuclear Fuel Senices, Strategic Analysis and at Dresden Nuclear Station.
