i Mr. T. T. Martin Regional Administrator Region I U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 475 Allendale Road King of Prussia, PA 19406
Dear Mr. Martin:
[
Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. I Status of Short-Term Corrective Actions During the week of September 21, 1992, requalification examinations were administered to 15 Millstone Unit No. I NRC licensed operators.
The results of this examination are that five license holders, including one crew, failed.
Per NUREG 1021, Operator Licensing Examiner Standards, these results constitute an unsatisfactory Licensed Operator Requalification (LOR) Training Program rating for Millstone Unit No.1.
Your understanding of Northeast Nuclear Energy Company's (NNECO) completed and planned actions to address these failures was the subject of a confirmatory action letter (CAL), dated October 9, 1992."'
In the CAL, you requested that NNECO submit to the Staff short-and long-term corrective actions for weaknesses identified from the 1992 NRC and facility-administered requalification examinations, and provide the status of previously committed long-term corrective actions from the 1991 NRC evaluation.
Accordingly, NNEC0 submitted a letter dated December 7, 1992.i2 The purpose of this letter is to update the Staff regarding the' status of the CAL items, and the status of the short-term corrective actions described in t
NNECO's December 7, 1992, letter.

$r.T.T. Martin B14404/Page 2 April 1, 1993 The October 9,1992, CAL specifically documented six NNECO commitments. NNECO has completed all six of these items.
CAL Item No. 5 was completed, as it i
relates to the conduct of remedial training, by providing training within the LOR training program to correct specific knowledge deficiencies.
l In the December 7, 1992, letter, NNECO identified eight short-term corrective actions necessary for the improvement of the LOR training program.
All eight i
actions have been completed successfully.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
